A super basic cornbread recipe, we keep all the ingredients except milk on hand at all times.
Ingredients
- Cornmeal (1 cup)
- Flour (1 cup, all purpose)
- Baking Powder (4 tsp)
- Sugar (1/4 cup, white granulated)
- Salt (1/2 tsp)
- Milk (1 cup, we usually use 1% anything but skim should be great)
- Egg (1 large)
- Oil (1/4 cup, we usually use canola)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425ºF.
- Coat a skillet with non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients.
- Stir wet into dry, mix to combine but don't over mix.
- Pour batter into the prepped skillet and bake for 20 minutes. Continue baking until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Serve warm.
